The PMA West Linn Team

Premier Martial Arts and Team Quest West Linn is proud to employ 10 people from around the Portland Metro Area. All of our PMA instructors have been through extensive training in with PMA and through it's leadership program. All instructors have had over 4 years of experience each in our program. Team Quest Instructors have all gone through a three year instructor certification course through Team Quest with MMA greats including Matt Lindland and his training staff. All of our instructors have been students first and have competed in local, regional, and some in the national martial arts and MMA scene. We encourage all our students to meet and introduce themselves to all our staff.

 

Scott Stein, Owner (Master Instructor/ Second Degree Blackbelt)

Scott Stein holds his second degree blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do from Tran's Martial Arts and Fitness in Colorado, where he was born and raised. He is certified in teaching Muay Thai kickboxing through Tran's new kickboxing cirriculum, and has continued his education in the martial arts by taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes and wrestling. Scott has been studying the Martial Arts since he was 10 and he has taught since he was 14 earning a head instructor role at age 19. Scott has won numerous awards competing in the martial arts, as well as instructing and coaching demo teams. Master Stein is a member of the National Association of Professional Martial Artists,The Martial Arts Industry Association, and United Professionals. Master Stein travels around the country to network and share ideas with the best teachers and martial artists in the world. Because of his dedication to the martial arts he is able to provide his students the best program in the country.

Amanda Stein (Administration/owner)

Amanda (Master Stein's wife) does several 'behind the scenes' tasks to make sure the schools run smoothly. Amanda grew up in Lake Oswego and graduated from Lakeridge High School. If you would like to market or network with PMA please call and ask for Amanda.



 
 

Ed Herman

Ed Herman is our newest Team Quest instructor. He will be teaching MMA and leading the Team practices on Fridays at Team Quest at Premier. Ed has been a student, coach and fighter for world renowed, Team Quest for several years and trained with all of their best including Matt Lindland, Chael Sonnen, Fabiano Scherner, Dave Jansen, and dozens of other top level fighters and coaches. Ed is probably most well known for being a contestant on Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter, season 3 and for his UFC contract, with his most recent fight in UFC 102 in Aug. 2009 in Portland, OR.
 
 

Egan Deeks (Instructor)

Egan Deeks has been a student of Master Stein's since early 2004 and has been an assistant instructor since 2005. Mr. Deeks graduated from West Linn High School and is continuing his education in business locally. Egan has his black belt through PMA West Linn and is a certified Muay Thai kickboxing instructor through Trans Muay Thai and Kickboxing in Colorado. Egan is now taking the instructor certification classes at Team Quest in Gresham under Matt Lindland and his staff.  






 

 

William Bogynska (Blackbelt/Instructor)

If you're a regular at PMA you can't miss Mr. Bogynska helping in classes several times a week. William is a West Linn High School student who represents the attitude, determination, and dedication every student needs to achieve their blackbelt. Mr. Bogynska recently passed every part of the blackbelt fitness test on his first try, several months before he needed to. Way to go! William was in the first group of PMA Black Belts and earned his Muay Thai certification in Colorado in the summer of 2009.

John Salemme (Quest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Coach)


 John is a brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Team Quest's Fabiano Scherner.

John teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Team Quest at Premier in addition to FIT class! He is there all day on Wednesdays and just started a class on Saturday's at 12:30. 
 
 

Glen Galbasini (Quest Submission Grappling Instructor)


Glen comes to us from Team Quest in Gresham, OR. After training for over seven years with Matt Lindland and his team and going through their instructor course, Glen teaches at Quest in Gresham and Quest at Premier.

Josh Botkin (Submission Wrestling)

Josh comes to us from Team Quest and has extensive experience in coaching, grappling, Jiu Jitsu, and competition. His classes are generally packed!
 
 
 

Dave Jansen (Striking Coach)

Dave Jansen has been with Team Quest for several years as a student and coach and is most well-known for his 14-1-0 professional fight record. Dave will be teaching Tuesday nights and covering for Ed Herman when he's out on Friday's for MMA classes.

Andrew Sumpter (Instructor)

Andrew is an Instructor in our Premier Program. He has year of experience as a student and has been a part of our leadership/instructor certification course. Andrew will be getting his Black Belt this year! 

 

Ian Winslow (Instructor)

Ian Winslow is an instructor in our Premier Program and a PMA Black Belt. Ian got his Black belt in July of 2009 and has been in our instructor certification program to become a part of our teaching staff.
